- Date of planning : October 19th , 2017 Date of teaching : October 27th , 2017 ENGLISH 10 UNIT5: TECHNOLOGY AND YOU Period 30 : C. LISTENING I. OBJECTIVES: 1. Educational aim: -By the end of the lesson, students can understand the main ideas of the story - Develop students’ listening skill for specific ideas and general information 2. Knowledge: ( Language , Structures , New words ). - General knowledge: To help the students practise listening skill through True or False and Gap-filling exercise - Lexical items / Language: Widen their vocabulary such as : worried, refuse, memory, shy, excuse 3. Skills : - Listening (main) - Speaking - Reading - Writing II. METHOD: - Mainly communicative approach and other suitable methods . III. TEACHING AIDS: • Teacher : A lesson plan , poster , pictures of a compuer, camcorder, VDU, • Students : -Look up some new words. -Reading the given information and translate them into Vietnamese -Guess the answers IV. PROCEDURE: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIVES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES * Stabilization: - Greeting the class - Greeting the T - Checking the students’ attendance - Answer : 10A6 I. Warm- up: ( 5 minutes) * Guide students to play a small game : “Simon says .” - Play the game happily * Lead in: If you are successful at this game, you are a good listener. Today, we are going to practise listening skill by listening a story about an old man who wants to learn how to use the computer. After listening to the story, you’ll know what happened to him. II. Pre-listening : ( 10 minutes)

While-listening : ( 22 minutes) Task 1: (Poster) * Aims: To help students get some in formation base on - Answer freely True/False exercise - Ask students to look at Task 1 and ask them to translate all the statements into Vietnamese - Ask students to listen to the tapes script and decide Task 1: whether the statements are true or false
- - Read or turn on the tapes script three times - Look at the task 1 and listen to the teacher - Then let them listen again sentence by sentence - Read the statements and try to understand them - Listen to the tapes script - Ask students to give their answers - Listen again and again - Decide whether the statements are T or F * Expected answers: - Correct their mistakes 1.F – 2.T – 3.T – 4.F – 5.F – 6.F Task 2: (Poster) * Aims: To help students fill in the gaps with the missing - Take notes words - Ask students to read the passage carefully Task 2: - Ask students to listen to the old man’s story again and - Look at task 2, listen to the teacher write in the missing words - Read the passage - Read or turn on the tapes script again once or twice - Listen to the tapes script - Help students give the correct answers - Take turns to write their answers on the board * Expected answers: 1.invented 2.still 3.refused 4. excuse - Correct their answers 5. anything - Give marks -Take notes IV. Post-listening: (7 minutes) * Marks: - Ask students to retell his story, beginning the story with the following sentence: The story is about an old man who doesn’t know how to use the computer - Listen to the teacher - Try to retell the story - Correct and give marks - Remember to change the subject into the third person singular V. Homework: ( 1 minute) * Marks: -Learn new words and phrases by heart - Summarize the story again - Prepare the new lesson : D. Writing -Take notes - Do the following exercise: -Do them at home I. Answer the questions : 1. What was the director worried about ? 2.Did he decide to take some computer lessons ? 3. Who was his teacher ? 4. Did he understand the lesson well ? 5.
