Knowledge - Use words related to family life, humans and environment, and music; - Pronounce the consonant blends /br/, /kr/, /tr/, /gr/, /pr/ correctly; - Apply the knowledge of grammar points learnt in the previous units to do the task; (to-infinitive, bare infinitive, the present simple, the present continuous, the future with will and be going to) - Use the passive voice; - Use the coordinating conjunctions (and, or, but, so). 2. Competence - Develop communication skills and cultural awareness; - Be collaborative and supportive in pair work and teamwork; - Actively join in class activities. 3. Quality - Develop self-study skills; - Raise students’ awareness of the need to keep their neighbourhood green. B. TEACHING AIDS 1. Students: - Grade 10 textbook 2. Teachers: - Computer connected to the Internet - Projector/ TV/ pictures and cards - sachmem.vn C. TEACHING PROCEDURES I. Warm up: Matching (5 minutes) *Objective: - To create an active atmosphere in the class before the lesson; - To lead into the new unit * Content: To have some warm-up activities to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to inspire Ss to warm up to the subject and new lesson. * Output: Lead to the subject and new lesson. * Process : Teacher’s instructions Page | 1
- * Teacher shows 3 sets of pictures (taken from Project lessons of Unit 1-2-3) and asks students to find a keyword for each set of pictures. Students raise hands to answer. Teacher and students discuss the answers. Teacher checks the answers as a class. Set 1: Family life/family Set 2: Traditional music/music Set 3: Humans and the environment/ go green/ green lifestyles/ living green II. New lesson 1. Activities Activity 1: PRONUNCIATION & VOCABULARY( 13 minutes ) *Objective: To check if students can identify consonant blends and provide further pronunciation practice. - To check if students remember collocations they have learnt in the previous units. *Content: prononunciation, vocabulary *Output: students can identify consonant blends and provide further pronunciation practice. students remember collocations they have learnt in the previous units. *Process: * Teacher writes /br/, /gr/, /kr/, /pr/ and /tr/ on the board. - Teacher writes one word containing the consonant blend below each of them. - Teacher asks students to listen and write down the words containing the sound blends. Students do the task by writing the words in suitable column. Teacher can invite some pairs of students to read aloud. Page | 2
- Teacher checks students’ pronunciation and give feedback. Students do this exercise individually by matching the halves to complete the sentences Teacher allows students to share their answers before discussing as a class and encourages them to pronounce the sentences correctly. Teacher checks the answers as a class and gives feedback. Key: 1. e 2. d 3. a 4. b 5. c Activity 2: GRAMMAR *Objective: To check if students can use the grammar points learnt in the previous units in sentences. - To check if Students can use the passive voice. *Content: Complete the sentences with the correct forms of the verbs in brackets. *Output: Ss’answer. *Process: EX1:Complete the sentences with the correct form of the verbs in brackets ( 7 minutes ). * Teacher asks students to work independently to fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the verbs in brackets. Students read the sentences first and underline the clues that help them decide the correct forms of the verbs in brackets. Teacher reminds students to use the correct forms of the verbs as requested in each sentence then allows them to share answers before discussing as a class. Teacher can ask students to read aloud the full sentences and correct their pronunciation if needed. 1. Hoa often ( clean) ___the house, she can’t now because she ( help )___ her brother with his homework. 2. I wanted ( improve )___ my cooking skill,and my parents let me ( take )___ a cooking course last year. 3. My father ( practise )___.singing twice a week, and he ( practise )___ at the moment. 4. Teacher can ask students to read aloud the full sentences and correct their pronunciation if needed. 1. Mary will visit her grandmother tomorrow. 2. We don't use this kind of cloth to make shirts. 3. People spend a lot of money on advertising every day. 4. The teacher returned our written work to us. Key: 1. Mary's grandmother will be visited (by her) tomorrow. 2. EX 3: choose the correct answers ( 7 minutes ): * Teacher asks students to read the sentences first. Students do the task individually. Teacher reminds students to pay attention to the grammar of the sentences then allows them to share answers before discussing as a class.
